Safety & Security

The Battlefield Inn has been designed with your comfort and safety in mind. In the event of an emergency, please be assured that our hotel features a state-of-the-art system to protect guests from both, fire and smoke risks. Make yourself familiar with the floor plan diagram of the fire exit stairwells located on the following page.

SAFETY TIPS
1. Do not leave monies or valuables in your room
2. Innkeeper is not responsible for the safekeeping of monies and valuables.
3. Innkeeper is not liable for the loss of clothing, goods and other property unless through the innkeeper's own negligence.
4. Unless labeled complimentary, missing goods will be billed to guest upon checkout.
5. Utilize the deadbolt and U-Lock or night latch for added security. Do not admit anyone into your room without proper identification. If in doubt, call the Front Desk.
6. Keep your room key on a table next to your bed.
7. If you leave your room, keep door closed and take your key. Do not give your key to others. If you lose your key, inform the Front Desk immediately.
8. Please leave your key with the Front Desk upon leaving.

FIRE SAFETY
1. NEVER smoke in bed. Be sure match is completely out before discarding.
2. Fire extinguisher located in the corridor.
3. In case of fire, DO NOT PANIC. Remain calm.
4. Report fire to Front Desk.
5. If room is smoky, get on hands and knees and crawl to door.
6. Feel door knob, if HOT DO NOT OPEN DOOR. If COOL, open slowly.
7. Exit building as quickly and calmly as possible. A wet towel tied around your mouth and nose serves as an effective filter.
8. Take nearest exit. DO NOT USE ELEVATOR. If blocked going down, go up to the roof or back to your room.
9. If door feels hot and/or you cannot leave your room, call the Front Desk or fire department and inform them of your location.
10. Seal space around door with wet towels.
11. Fill bath tub with water before pressure is lost.
12. Turn off air conditioning or heating which brings in smoke. Turn on bathroom ventilator to take out smoke.
13. Be prepared to break sealed windows only as a last resort. Rip curtains off window to avoid fire.
14. Signal your location by waving a sheet.
15. Lie down to await rescue even if there isn't any visible smoke. CARBON MONOXIED IS ODORLESS.
16. Do not jump unless you are on the second floor. Keep calm. Panic is often more dangerous than the emergency.
